Every Day Is a Doubt

July 2026

Day minus one is the hardest day of a company, and it repeats.

I keep asking whether I am founder material. Not whether the idea is good, or the market is real, or the timing is right. Those questions have answers you can go look for. The other one does not.

The hardest battle is always the one in your head. Everything external has a workaround. You can find money, find a cofounder, find customers, find the second version of a plan that failed. There is no workaround for waking up unsure you are the right person.

The easy decision is a job. That is what makes it dangerous. It is right there, it pays, and it looks like an answer.

I catch myself talking to companies where I could land a role without much trouble. Not because I want the role, but because the conversation gives me a small hit of confidence. Someone wants me. Someone thinks I am good. It feels like progress. It is not. It answers a question I was not actually asking.

The hardest thing after the exit was never whether I wanted to start something again. It was whether I am good enough to. There are hints that I am. There are also days where the doubt grows faster than the evidence.

I do not have a resolution for this. I think the honest version is that you do not resolve it, you just keep going while it sits there. You start anyway, and the doubt comes with you, and eventually the work gets loud enough that you stop hearing it every hour.

Day minus one is not a day. It is a stretch of time you walk through without knowing when it ends.
